Create your ZIP in three steps
- Click Browse files and select the files you want to package from the ChromeOS file picker.
- Choose Store, Balanced or the highest compression level according to your needs.
- Click Create ZIP and find the resulting archive in your browser downloads.
Create a ZIP in Chrome
The selected files are read on your Chromebook and packaged by the browser. There is no upload queue or account requirement. A managed device may restrict file selection or downloads according to its administrator policy.
Choose compression to suit the files
Store is fast and is useful for already-compressed files such as JPEGs and videos. Balanced is a practical default. Stronger compression can take longer and may make little difference for data that is already compressed.
Local processing, practical limits
Selected files and archive passwords stay on your device. Browser memory, archive size and compression method affect what can be processed. The tool shows its current limits and reports unsupported or unsafe archives. Use a desktop archiver for large backups, multipart sets or filesystem metadata that must be restored exactly.
