When is a browser archive tool useful?

Unzip online when you need one document from an email attachment, a quick look at filenames, or a few files from a project archive. Do my files leave my device?

No. File contents and passwords are processed on your device. Cloudflare delivers the website and its code, but your selected archives are not uploaded.

Which archive formats can I open?

ZIP and common RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2 and ISO archives. Some compression methods, encrypted headers and multipart archives require a desktop archiver.

Can I open a password-protected ZIP?

Yes, with the password provided by its creator. You can also protect a new ZIP with a password. Forgotten passwords cannot be recovered here.

How large can an archive be?

Up to 1 GB of input and 5,000 entries. Extracted files are limited to 256 MB each and 512 MB in total. Your browser may run out of memory sooner, especially on phones.

Can ZIP make every file smaller?

No. Text often compresses well, but PDFs, photos and videos may already be compressed. ZIP still bundles them without changing their contents.
