Do my files leave this browser?
No. File contents and passwords are processed on your device. Cloudflare delivers the website and its code, but your selected archives are not uploaded.
Which formats can I open?
The tool reads ZIP and common RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2 and ISO archives. Some compression methods, encrypted headers and multipart archives may require a desktop archiver.
Can I open a password-protected ZIP?
Yes. Enter the password provided by the archive creator. You can also protect a new ZIP with a password. This tool cannot recover a forgotten password.
How large can an archive be?
The input limit is 1 GB, with up to 5,000 entries. Extraction is limited to 256 MB per file and 512 MB in total. Your browser may run out of memory sooner, particularly on phones.
Can ZIP make every file smaller?
No. Text often compresses well, but PDFs, photographs and videos may already be compressed. ZIP can still package them together without changing their contents.
